Benjamin O. Davis Sr. & Jr.
Benjamin O. Davis Sr. and Jr. were very important African American soldiers from WWII who helped pave the way for other African American soldiers. They both earned many honors for their service in the military and are now seen as historical icons.
The Tuskegee Airmen
The Tuskegee Airmen were African American pilots during WWII. They broke many records, earned many medals, and gained support from many Americans because they made up the first African American Fighter Group.
African Americans In WWII
African Americans were very helpful in World War 2. Not only did they fight in the military, they also worked as battlefield nurses, factory workers, and as mechanics for the broken airplaines, cars, and boats. The African Americans of the United States are what kept this nation going all throughout the war. If we did not have them, then this nation may not exist today.
The Double V Campaign
The Double V Campaign was called the "Double V" Campaign because the V stands for victory and there were two ways to get it. One way to be victorious according to this campaign was abroad in World War II. This simply means that to be victorious, the Americans must win the war. The other way to be victorious is to be victorious at home. In other words, the prejudice for African Americans and others with varying skin colors should not matter in America, or "at home."
